In graphics, signage and point-of-sale applications, assemblies often involve two surfaces with entirely different requirements. One must stay permanently bonded. The other must be updated or removed cleanly, without residue, sometimes long after initial application.
When those two requirements differ, a single adhesive system becomes a compromise. XF-204A is built for that situation.
The Limitation of a Single Adhesive System
Standard double-sided tapes apply one adhesive chemistry consistently across both faces.
When both surfaces share the same requirement, this works well. When they do not, specification becomes a trade-off.
A high-tack permanent adhesive on a surface that later needs to be changed risks residue or damage on removal. A removable adhesive where permanence is required may not hold reliably over time or under load.
Addressing each surface correctly means addressing them separately.
A Modified Solvent Acrylic Differential Adhesive System
XF-204A is built on a clear PET carrier with a modified solvent acrylic differential adhesive, two distinct formulations, each engineered for the specific surface it contacts.
The open side bonds permanently to paper, board and high surface energy plastics, with a peel adhesion of 15 N/24mm or higher.
The closed (liner) side is low tack by design, strong enough to hold reliably to glass, ABS and PVC, and releasing cleanly without residue, even after prolonged direct UV exposure.
UV stable and good optical clarity throughout.
Where This Construction Applies
Graphics and signage installations where the mounting substrate is fixed but the graphic layer needs periodic updating.
POS display materials where secure fixing is required on the bonding face, and clean, damage-free release on the display face.
Print finish applications where precision adhesion is specified on one surface and long-term, residue-free removability on the other.
In each case, the requirement is the same: the right adhesive behaviour for each surface, engineered into a single construction.
